the lost art of keeping a secret

there's something I keep secret that most likely you can see in my eyes...
It's like this song says, a canine devotion.
I wish I could tell you but,as I'm always afraid of a negative answer from your lips, I keep it to myself.
If you'd whistle I'd come to you, tongue sticking out and tail floating around. But I've bitten you before and the scars are still visible when you stare into my eyes.
I still have the devotion...but I'm scared to loose you by clearing my mind and telling the truth. Do you know?!
